What Is a Goal?
A remarkable number of leaders do not have measurable goals,which significantly increases the chance of misalignment, in fighting,and confusion of direction.
In Chapter 2 of SOA, I explain how to transform any statement into a goal. This appendix provides examples to help you solidify the concept and develop clear measurable goals. The lead in leadership is knowing where you are headed. This appendix will help you with that clarity.
A goal is numeric and measurable. Many people confuse actions, values, standards, statements, beliefs, and other things with goals. Almost all of these items can be transformed into my definition of a goal. Here are examples from various workplaces:
