Introduction

1.1    Overview

The field of coordinated multiagent dynamic systems, including swarms and swarm robotics, is a relatively new field that has become popular in recent years. Since the pioneering work [1] on simulation of a flock of birds in flight using a behavioral model based on a few simple rules and only local interactions, the field has witnessed many developments. Currently, there is significant interest in the applications of the field in various areas involving teams of manned or unmanned aerial, ground, space or underwater vehicles, robots and mobile sensors, to name a few [2],[3],[4],[5],[6],[7],[8],[9].

Because of the interdisciplinary nature of the field, the literature on coordinated multiagent dynamic ...
