BASICS: From Assess—Product-Flow Analysis (TIPS)

This chapter begins the assessment phase, or A phase, of the BASICS model. There are three aspects we assess when looking at an assembly or machining cell. These same tools apply for transactional processes (Figure 11.1). The assessment phase looks at the following:

1. The product—process-flow analysis (PFA) includes transport, inspect, process, store (TIPS).

2. The operator—workflow analysis (WFA) reviews the full work of the operator. ...
