The Distinctive Features of Intangibles
Introduction
Despite their diversity, intangible assets share several distinctive features that set them apart from tangible assets. Nonscarcity, nonrivalry, limited tradability, high scalability, low or zero marginal costs, network effects, synergies, spillover effects, and partial excludability are some important distinctive features of intangible assets (see Table 5.1). The following chapter examines the intangible assets’ unique features, analyzing their implications and significance in business and management.
