Part IV. A Brief History of Serverless
In Chapters 1 and 4, we alluded to why the serverless movement has become popular at this moment. But every advance is built on earlier insights and inventions. So in this chapter, I’m going to identify the spiritual forebears of modern serverless systems. In so doing, we’ll learn more about the motivations and developments that enabled the current state of the world and maybe a little bit about the future directions of serverless.
