MAC (Media Access Control) address
The unique physical serial number given by the manufacturer to every networking device used for network communication.
A security measure for wireless networks whereby access through a wireless signal is restricted to specified MAC addresses, and others are rejected. Also called MAC filtering.
1 million bits. When measured over time, this is the standard transmission-rate unit for high-speed modems, such as 2 megabytes per second (Mbps).
