Epilogue
In 2007, my wife and I traveled to the Middle East. At the time, Chelsea was pregnant with our first child, and I often caught my mind drifting into the future. As we wandered through the land of Abraham, I kept returning to the thought that this child of ours might live to see the end of the twenty-first century, a time horizon I had never before considered. While our daughter Mira was, for the moment, so comfortingly close to us, I knew that she was destined to live in a world beyond our reach and even our imagination. The thought was both exhilarating and terrifying.
