Synopsis
Enable and disable bindings, and rearrange the binding order.
Procedures
To modify bindings, you use the Network and Dial-up Connections window as follows:
Start → Settings → Control Panel → Network and Dial-up Connections → Advanced → Advanced Settings → Adapters and Bindings |
Select the network connection whose bindings you want to configure, and then perform one of the following tasks:
- Enable or disable a binding
Select or deselect the checkbox for that binding.
- Rearrange the binding order
Select a binding and use the up or down arrows to change the binding order. The binding at the top of the list is the first one used.
Notes
You must be a member of the Administrators group to modify bindings.
You can use the Provider Order tab to rearrange the order in which network and print providers attempt connections on the network. You should use this in conjunction with the Adapters and Bindings tab. For example, if you have both TCP/IP and NWLink installed as network protocols and both File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks and Gateway (and Client) Services for NetWare installed on your network, but on an attached network segment you have mostly Microsoft clients running TCP/IP, then:
Select Adapters and Bindings, and move TCP/IP to the top of the list for File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks.
Select Provider Order, and move Microsoft Windows Network to the top of the list of network providers.
