Composition in interior design is the subtle art of arranging elements so that the overall spatial effect is related to a larger sequence of movement and repose.

As with proportion, ideas about composition are hard to quantify, and are often subjective ideas that can relate to a number of cultural and formal ideas. Some designers may aim for minimalist framing, while others develop more aggregated forms of composition.
