With the publication of Achieving HR Excellence through Six Sigma in 2013, I introduced the concept of the TLS Continuum.1 At the time, it was my belief that referring to the continuous improvement process as a cycle was delimiting the process because it suggested that every continuous process improvement effort was narrow in its approach. The TLS Continuum is anything but narrow in its view of the world. It is truly grounded in the idea that, as Shirley MacLaine said, We are not victims of the world we see; we are victims of the way we see the world.
