Abstract

This is a practical case study which enables readers to practice some of the quantification techniques explained throughout the book.

This chapter is a case study based on a typical pressure reduction system. It provides an example of the safety-integrity targeting described in Chapter 22. This is Chapter 11 of The Safety Critical Systems Handbook, D. J. Smith and K. G. L. Simpson, 4th edition, ISBN 978-0-12-805121-4.
This exercise is based on a real scenario. Spaces have been left for the reader to attempt the calculations. The answers are provided in Appendix 8.
