In this chapter, you learn about Systemd, which is the system and service manager used on RHEL 8. You discover all the things that Systemd can do, and after you have a good general understanding, you learn how to work with Systemd services. Systemd is also involved in booting your system in a desired state, which is called a target. That topic is covered in Chapter 17, “Managing and Understanding the Boot Procedure.”
