The Default IIS 8.0 Installation
The default IIS 8.0 installation discussed in this section is the most basic installation of IIS 8.0 possible. At the end of this installation, your server will be able to serve static content. That's enough for some uses, but this is probably the least common installation. It's not uncommon to receive a server from a vendor who has preinstalled the operating system with the default IIS 8.0 installation you'll see here. Adding features during the IIS 8.0 installation is a more common installation, as is adding features to an existing IIS 8.0 installation, but this installation example will familiarize you with what to expect from a basic IIS 8.0 installation.
