CHAPTER 12Building Effective Conditions
After refining the query items, and pivoting the data, perhaps the next most common way to refine a query is to refine the conditions. The ability to add, edit, or remove conditions is one of the things you need to master in order to become an expert in Discoverer.
In Chapter 4, we introduced you to the Workbook Wizard. One of the essential steps that you were shown was setting user-defined conditions. However, in that chapter, we advised you to only create enough conditions to avoid “The Query from the Twilight Zone.” Those conditions were very simple. In this section, we will show you how to build effective conditions and explain all of the options that are available to you.
