I have always felt my career in business began when I was a young boy, at 10 or 11 years old, and my father, a pre-baby boomer, was fired from his high-powered executive job for being too old at 45. The bubble of baby boomers was coming through and youth was trumping experience. As a consequence of being fired my Dad started his own business. From importing pumps, manufacturing floor polishers, cleaning chemicals, selling and servicing heavy earthmoving equipment, I spent as much time as possible working with Dad, talking with Dad and listening to him about the various businesses we were involved with.
