Laurent A. Francis, PhD, is an associate professor in the Electrical Engineering Department at the Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium. His main focus is on co-integrated, ultra-low-power CMOS MEMS sensors for biomedical applications and harsh environments. He was previously researcher at IMEC in Leuven, Belgium, in the field of acoustic and optical biosensors and piezoelectric RF-MEMS. In 2011, he was a visiting professor at the Université de Sherbrooke, Québec, Canada. He has published more than 60 research papers in scientific journals, international conferences and book chapters and holds 1 patent.
