Just because you can’t buy music through the NOOK Store doesn’t mean you can’t play it on your NOOK Tablet. The device gives you the option of loading and playing your own (DRM-free) music, and it comes preloaded with a great app (Pandora) for discovering new music and streaming it from the Web.
Music Player
Out of the box, there isn’t much to look at when you open the Music Player (NOOK Button→Apps→Music Player), because your NOOK doesn’t come with any music. You’ll need to supply the tunes on your own.

Your NOOK will play only songs without DRM (Digital Rights Management). So, if you transfer any locked files sold through stores that want you to play them using only their devices and software, well, they just won’t show up in your Music Player.
First, create a folder on your computer desktop with the songs you want to send to your NOOK (you can just drag and drop from iTunes or your preferred music player, or copy and paste from wherever you store your music files).
Now, connect your NOOK to your computer by plugging the small end of the USB cable that came with the device into the microUSB port at the base of the unit (Figure 1-2) and the other end into the USB port on your computer. The NOOK will mount on your desktop as an external drive (called MyNOOK), and the screen of the NOOK will lock, with a “USB Mode” message to let you know you’re connected.
