Using Airplane Mode

I'm sure at some time in your life you've heard a captain on an airplane say that all wireless devices must be turned off and stowed. You probably also heard him or her say it's okay to use approved devices as long as you disable any wireless features when you're up in the air (and properly reclined in your seat). That's where Airplane Mode comes in. With Airplane Mode, you can play games, watch media stored on your Xoom, view items in your Gallery, and perform other non-Internet-related tasks, all while sitting on an airplane.

To enable or disable Airplane Mode:

  1. Tap the Wi-Fi or 3G network icon in the status bar. If you don't see anything, tap the time.
  2. Tap the window that appears, as shown in Figure 4-12.
  3. Tap Off next to Airplane Mode. (Tap On to enable it.)
