Migration endpoints
Up to this point, the discussion has been about moving mailboxes between databases in the same organization. These types of moves are called local and are the easiest to manage because they occur within a single authentication context. In other words, all the Exchange servers involved in the move share the same Active Directory settings because they are part of the same organization.
As shown in Table 10-2, apart from local moves, Exchange 2013 supports three other types of mailbox moves, each with its own characteristics but all sharing the requirement that an endpoint must be created to allow the move to proceed.
