Explanatory Note
This chapter adds detail and context to the “executive-level” roadmap in Figure 7.2.
In common with other roadmaps in this book, stage H0 (not cited below, where we begin at H1) indicates that there will have been—and continues to be—a thorough-going business context review, leading to effective business strategy development and associated detailed business plans. A soundly run organization, and an effective senior manager, will have a good grip on the overall business environment, how its own organization interacts within its own business sector, and the way it relates to other business sectors.
