When the instructional design process has gone smoothly, you identify the particular instructional or performance problem you’re facing, analyze the tasks needed for effective performance, and then develop objectives and assessments for the instruction. (For more on those topics, see Chapters 3, 4, and 5.) You may also analyze your options for the best instructional delivery system to use (synchronous classroom or online asynchronous delivery, for example; see Chapters 3 and 8 for details on those concepts). These details are essential elements of defining the scope and sequence of the instruction.

In addition to all these tasks, however, you also have to develop the instructional strategies you’ll use to meet your objectives.
