Technology has changed the way we live our daily lives from the tools we use to communicate with family and friends to the ways we use our phones to find our way around a new city to the software we use to enhance our productivity at work.
Instructional design is no different — technology has also changed the ways we design and deliver instruction. Take, for instance, the standard classroom learning experience: A group of students is seated together in a classroom with a teacher who delivers instruction at the same time, in the same place, at the same pace, with tools such as a whiteboard and computer. Consider a different example of visitors to a museum where they can scan a QR code on their phones to learn about the background of the artwork in front of them and learn from the comments of experts.
