My first film “The Unbelievable Truth” was quite a big film at the Toronto Film Festival, which was the first time that I had to ask people what indie means, because that’s when I heard about the term. It was a tag invented by people whose work is to market films. It immediately struck me it reminded me of the interview I read with Elvis Costello, where he said, people labeled him as punk. He said “whatever”. That’s how I felt about indie films.
