First … A Little History—the Three Wise Men
The CCS trainers, Protzman, Sarasohn, and Polkinghorn (referred to as the Three Wise Men in Hopper’s book The Puritan Gift), worked with the Japanese Union of Scientists and Engineers (JUSE) to conduct the initial US management training. They also felt that statistical quality control (SQC) was a major reason the United States won the war. JUSE wanted more training in SQC and asked the CCS.
