Chapter 3. Business Value Activities
In Chapter 2, we learned how the Data Cloud architecture was built from the ground up to make the Salesforce customer data platform (CDP) unique. Unlike traditional CDPs that only utilize batch processing, Data Cloud can operate in a near real-time manner to deliver the most up-to-date information for immediate action. This opens up many new possibilities for organizations implementing Salesforce Data Cloud as part of their first-party data strategy.
The last chapter described the technology that powers Data Cloud. In this chapter, we’ll learn about the many ways Salesforce Data Cloud provides benefits to the entire organization. You’ll be introduced to the value creation process that empowers functional teams with key value activities they can use to transform their enterprise into a future-ready organization. We’ll discuss different ways an organization can leverage those key value activities by providing a brief explanation of 12 different key business value activities made possible by Data Cloud.
Later chapters will give in-depth details about the 12 key business value activities and how you can achieve them. The purpose of this chapter is to make you aware of them so you can begin planning with the end goal in mind.
