Chapter 2. Foundations of Salesforce Data Cloud
As we saw in Chapter 1, there are lots of problems that can be solved with Salesforce Data Cloud. It requires some initial setup, but on a day-to-day basis, Data Cloud will be managed by an administrator. In addition to an administrator, there will likely be a number of different end users who will need access to the unified data within Data Cloud.
Many of those Salesforce end users might be working within the Sales Cloud or Service Cloud applications on a daily basis, and those users may never need direct access to the Data Cloud application. Instead, Data Cloud data might be surfaced within their Sales Cloud or Service Cloud applications as data enhancements, like related lists.
In addition to surfacing data in Sales and Service cloud applications, Salesforce Data Cloud is often used for marketing purposes. In those scenarios, there will likely be more end users working within the Data Cloud application. It is to be expected that data aware specialists, marketing specialists, and marketing managers will be directly or indirectly responsible for creating and activating segments within Data Cloud.
The Data Cloud platform will need to be provisioned and made ready for the end users before they can get access to the Data Cloud application and data.
