5    Future-proofing your leadership

Beyond a shared mindset, there is one other similarity among the leaders I talked to while writing this book: There are no “chosen ones.” Of course, some people display an adventurous growth mindset earlier on than others. But most future first leaders I’ve known weren’t born that way. Almost all of them recalled events and personal experiences that led to some type of mindset shift. For some of them the shift was sudden; for others a slow transformation occurred while they were working with more traditional business models.
