POWER GAP TERMS

POWER GAP: The social distance that separates individuals from those in positions of authority, whether in a formal or more informal structure, defined by gender, age, or cultural differences.

CLOSING OR MANAGING THE GAP: The ability to effectively read the power gap between yourself and other individuals, and respond in the most appropriate manner to reduce the social distance.

FLEXING: Adapting how one communicates, relates, and responds to others in a manner that takes into account an understanding of status differences.
