Character analysis is a rather general term, referencing a broad range of techniques to enhance the actor’s craft. Theatrical performers must learn and master some of these techniques to guide them in researching, developing, and assembling the roles which they will portray. That fact is really the basis of this book and the reason we wanted to offer an additional character analysis tool to add to those already available. The importance of such tools is made clear in Charles McGaw’s Acting Is Believing: A Basic Method (1966).
