Binary Arithmetic and Decoding and Mux Logic Units

OBJECTIVE

We learnt binary arithmetic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in Chapter 3. How do we formulate the problem and implement the design of combinational circuits for the 4-bit and 8-bit arithmetic functions? We shall learn the answers of these questions in this chapter.

In Chapter 9, we learnt that AND-OR arrays or OR-AND arrays or NANDs or NORs could be used as basic building blocks for designing a combinational logic circuit. We shall study decoders, encoders, demultiplexers and multiplexers in this chapter.
