Problem Formulation and Design of the Combinational Circuits
OBJECTIVE
We studied Boolean algebra and theorems in Chapter 4. We learnt how to convert a Boolean expression into SOP or POS format. In Chapter 5, we learnt how to build a Karnaugh map and then simplify and minimize it. In Chapter 6, we studied the different types of gates and their families and their characteristics, propagation delay, fan-out, operating voltage levels and noise margins. In Chapter 7, we learnt how to interconnect and interface various types of gate. In Chapter 8, we learnt how to use the open collector, open drain and tristate gates to connect the logic gate outputs to next input stages in the complex logic circuits.
