Scattering

When an RF signal passes into a medium that is rough, uneven, or made up of very small particles, the signal can be scattered into many different directions. This is because the tiny irregular surfaces of the medium can reflect the signal, as shown in Figure 3-11. Scattering can occur when a wireless signal passes through a dusty or sandy environment.
