Using a PBR material

Since Chapter 4, Using Real-Time Materials in Eevee, we have been talking about PBR materials, and it is finally time to start using them in Blender. But what are PBR materials? The acronym PBR stands for Physically Based Rendering. That means a PBR material will have a lot of the physical properties of a real-world surface.

To achieve that surface, it needs much more than a simple image texture file. You will need several files to represent each aspect of a surface.

Nowadays, it is relatively simple to find PBR materials online on both paid and free material libraries. To show you how to create a PBR material, we will use a version of the same wood floor material from the beginning of this chapter.
