Despite what your book says, there is no Advanced Search facility on Facebook. Maybe there was at one time. You can combine certain search types, such as name: steven matthysse gender: male, but only very limited combinations are allowed. Your book does not anywhere mention this possibility or the syntax that is allowed, but in any case it is a weak search facility. For example, name: steven matthysse groups: computers is not allowed. The end result of the absence of an advanced search facility, for me as a potential user, is loss of interest in Facebook. Indeed, I bought your manual because it described an advanced search facility; I would not have bought it if I had known that the facility did not exist. If I am missing something myself, please tell me. Otherwise my opinion of O'Reilly Media will go down a little, which is too bad because I have had many good experiences with your more technical "nutshell guides". |
