Mike has co-authored both editions of the Cloud FinOps book published by Oâââ‰â¢Reilly Media alongside J.R. Storment, widely regarded as `the FinOps book`. Mike recently became the Steering committee chair alongside members from Google and Microsoft for the FOCUS Project, working on an open specification for cloud billing data. Previous to the FinOps Foundation, Mike was a principal engineer at Atlassian for over ten years where he formed a dedicated FinOps team within Atlassian, consisting of data engineers, analysts, and FinOps practitioners which continues to help Atlassian get the most value out of the money it spends on cloud. Mike holds a bachelorâââ‰â¢s degree in computer science from the University of Wollongong and has completed nine AWS certifications. He has presented at multiple AWS re:Invent and AWS Summit events on topics that include AWS security and Cloud FinOps.
