"If this CIDFont resource [0-15443, 15449-23057] were to be converted to a 'CFF' table, the resulting GID range would be as follows: 0-23053"

I think the GID range is off by one. 0-15443 specifies 15,444 glyphs, and 15449-23057 specifies 7,609 glyphs. This totals 23,053 glyphs. However, 0-23053 specifies 23,054 glyphs; one more than above. I think the book should instead read "0-23052". Is that correct?

Garamond is stated as being the standard textface in the book. However, the Colophon (and other places) say that it is Minion Pro.
