I have an iPhone Model Xr running iOS 13.2.3 and have encountered a problem with The Instant Screen-Dimming Trick described on PAGE 257 of iPhone THE MISSING MANUAL, 13th EDITION, 11/2019. If you follow the steps on page 257 using an iPhone Model Xr running iOS 13.2.3, you will not obtain the result you want.
