Not actually on the page

This is not actually in the book but in the code for the app in chapter 1 that I examined with Chrome developer tools. When changing their passwords, users must enter their old password. The code for accepting the old password looks like this:

<input type="text" name="oldpass" class="value" value="" required="true"" pattern=" [a-zA-Z0-9!@#$%^&*-]+""/>

Specifying a pattern for the old password is a mistake, because if you ever change the pattern to a more restrictive one, users with a less restricted old password won't be able to enter it, so they won't ever be able to change passwords.
