It's paragraph

"To turn off individual apps' presence on the Lock screen, open Settings–Control Center; tap the app's name, and then turn off Show on Lock Screen"

This is incorrect, as one would need to go to the Control Center, then to Notifications, then locate the individual app in the Notification Style section to find the option to turn off the app's appearance on the Lock screen.

The Control Center settings in Settings cover only whether one might access the Control Center from the Lock screen and/or from within individual apps.

I am looking at the printed book, and have not checked any other format to see whether is appears there as well.

1st paragraph under Silencer Switch, Volumn Keys (10th edition)

Photo of silencer switch being referenced is on page 15, not page 16

"Tip" at bottom of page

Inclusion of this tip suggests that the triple click dimming method will save battery power. But on page 211, the paragraph below the pictures, is stated "It doesn't save you any battery power since...".
Incidentally, I am unable to replicate the dim at wakeup by covering the ambient light sensor on my 6S.

3rd paragraph

Under heading "Books that Read to you",( in the iBook section) I could not get the function to work, even after verifying that I had made the correct settings as instructed.

I tried it with 3 different books downloaded from the Apple Store.

The speak function does work when I select several words or a paragraph and touch speech button on the the pop-up menu.

I talked by telephone to the Apple Help desk, and even read about to the tech person the instruction from your book. Even after consulting with another person, the tech was not able to help... suggested the book was wrong, and I should buy audio books instead.

Has the feature been deleted from the latest upgrade of the OS in response to the commercial pressures referred to at the bottom of page 371.

Note: I am using iOS 9.3.4, which my screen says is the latest update.

I look forward to your reply.

Note also: When I tried a similar command in El Capitan on my MacBook air, the command was visible on the drop-down menu, but was "greyed out" and did not function.

I look forward to your reply.... and thanks for all your good books... I have purchased many of them over the years.

3rd para

This is a follow-up of a message I left yesterday: As I explored further, I found the the read aloud function does work on my iPhone... however, the instruction given in the book needs to be clearer. The text reads "Swipe down the page with two fingers...." I learned from reading in the "settings" instructions in the device that one needs to start at the very top of the screen... not just anywhere in the middle as I had been doing. I suggest that this be made more clear in a later edition, and perhaps in an errata note.

thanks for your attention to this...

first TIP

On the top TIP on page 407 you write that Voice Memo records in stereo if you connect a stereo mic to the headphone jack. I tried this without success. Also tried 2 other audio recording apps including Rode Rec.

My source at Rode US support wrote: "When plugged in via the 3.5mm jack, I'm afraid a stereo microphone is not compatible with an iOS device - this is of course a limitation of the Apple hardware rather then the Rode Rec app.
Please let me know if you have any other questions at all.
Regards,
Matt Springall"

Please correct this in the next edition.
