Many, if not all of the page number references are incorrect. Most by 10 pages. I, obviously, have not looked at every reference; but, it seems allure wrong. This is really a pain when looking for information.

NOT AN ERROR but a comment.

ADD:
You can actually page through "MS office" files WITHOUT HAVING MS OFFICE INSTALLED.

NOT AND ERROR
Just add:
DOUBLE CLICK column separator to set width.
Width will be just enough to show the longest name in the list.

Frequently Asked Question, 3rd paragraph

Refers to making a screenshot, and parenthetically refers to going to page 469, but page 469 doesn't really describe how to take a screenshot anywhere on it.

Printed, ePub Page 87
entire page

Page 87 refers to changing the settings of "Spring-loaded folders." The instructions state:

Choose Finder -> Preferences. On the General pane, adjust ...

This is incorrect. To complete this task, the correct instructions begin with going to the apple Icon (far left) and selecting system preferences, then among those, select accessibility and from there select Mouse and Trackpad, where the command slider, etc. are found.

1st full paragraph

The manual says that you can use the calendar widget "to look ahead or back" in addition to checking your schedule for the day. However, I am only able to use it for today's date. Am I missing something?

Keyboard Control heading, 2nd para

It says "you can operate every control in every dialog box from the keyboard".

Maybe that is true but here's one situation that didn't work.
The Apple Genius bar people couldn't tell me a way to pair a new wireless trackpad with an iMac in the Bluetooth preferences without using a wired mouse or trackpad. Maybe some combination of accessibility preferences would make it possible but that's not how it comes by default. Couldn't figure out how to change those preferences without a mouse. I borrowed a mouse from a neighbor.

It would be nice to know whether the book is actually completely correct on this.

p.s. I really appreciate the level of completeness in technical details in this book.

Last paragraph of box at bottom of page (Gem in the Rough box)

The book says that "Once you've begun typing a word, press either F5 or Option-Esc to produce the list of possible word completions shown here." Working in Pages, F5 does this for me, but Option-Esc results in a computer voice that starts reading my document, not the word completion list. The same thing happens in TextEdit.

I checked all my possible keyboard reassignments, and nothing involves Option-Esc.

What am I doing wrong?

Note section and last paragraph

The book refers to page 251 twice for more details on configuring Bluetooth. Not sure what page it should be (maybe 326?) but page 251 does NOT talk about Bluetooth.

If it's not working

Item reads, "On the Mac, open System Preferences->General. Confirm that "Allow Handoff between this Mac and your iCloud devices" is turned on."

There is no such line on my Mac. I can send you a screenshot.

The text "This drive will hold the drivers your Mac needs one it's running" should be "This drive will hold the drivers your Mac needs once it's running"

Second last paragraph

As described in the book, more information on Dictation is available on page 327. However, page 327 is not the correct page for further information. This should possibly be page 251 instead.

6th paragraph

This paragraph starts: " For committed multiple monitor fans..."
It is not wrong and is not a mistake.

It does underplay some important information--how to set the "primary" monitor.

I don't like mirrored monitors so I use the extended display with multiple monitors. This gave me fits fo for months before I discovered the answer.

Consider this situation. I am about to present a slide show (or a document or video) on the 'second monitor. When I connect the monitor/projector it becomes the primary screen showing all my desktop icons and links---things I don't want to show. And, even worse, the slide show movie shows on the wrong screen. So I would have to switch to mirrored mode.

This is easily fixed by dragging what you call the "tiny strip" onto the correct monitor.

So my corrections would be:
1. Reword the paragraph so it is not just for the 'committed', but everyone. Use an example (like mine, above) to show how it can be important.
2. Describe it as selecting the primary monitor and add it to the index under multiple monitors.

Thanks

2nd paragraph titled control the dock from the keyboard

(ibooks, so I assume epub)

The cross referenced link to "data detectors" seems to have nothing to do with keyboard controls. This paragraph says the link is an example of using keyboard to control the dock.

1st paragraph under Tab View heading

It says:
"Now, however, there’s a much more visual way to survey your tab domain: Tab view.
To see these miniatures of all your open tabs, you can click the Show All Tabs button on the toolbar"

This is technically incorrect or at best misleading. The Show All Tabs command shows only the tabs for the currently open window, not for all the other windows. The text could also mention the keystroke for getting there sh-cmd-\ to be fair to keyboard centric folk.

The same incorrect "all" appears in the subsequent Tip paragraph. The Find command looks only at the tabs in the current window, not at all of the open tabs (which would be a lot more useful).

For getting back to the tab you started from, you can also use the ESC key; you don't need a trackpad gesture as the caption for Figure 19-20 might seem to imply.
