3rd paragraph - the example curl script

The example test curl script is incorrect. According to the community.particle.io forrum, the api.spark.io URL was deprecated some time ago. Therefore, the script is incorrect.

The correct working script is:
curl https://api.particle.io/v1/devices/<deviceid>/led -d access_token=<accesstoken> -d "args=on"

I just bought this book. It is the first release, 2015-04-24, of the first edition.

Correspondingly, the code on page 89 does not function. The URL on line 7 of the HTML code, api.spark.io, is deprecated. It should be api.particle.io instead. However, even with that change, the HTML code does not function. I have yet to figure out to to get it to work, and the community forum has not yet replied to my post.

4th paragraph

The paragraph reads: "The fancy graphical display is courtesy of a really handy JavaScript plug-in called JustGage. The web page for this can be found in the file p_09_light_meter.html along with the JustGage JavaScript libraries."

The JustGage library is NOT found in the p_09_light_meter.html file, as there IS NO p_09_light_meter file.

In fact there are no other instructions on how to find and where to save this file. Additionally, the Raphael library (a dependency of JustGage) is not available, and similarly must be downloaded and saved to the project folder (containing the p_09_light_meter.html file.

bottom

Simon Monk promises: "You will learn how these work later." -But he doesn't explain nothing about "some strange parameters" as *event and *data in the function soundAlarm on page 159.

the link for the USB driver returns a Spark.zip file that does not provide a useful USB driver.

The USB driver for Win 7 64 bits in the Spark.zip is a pain to load. the help community at particle.io has suggestions, and the process is not well documented. Having an unsigned digital driver is not an optimum solution if you are not a Jedi Windows Master.
