Learn how to enrich your Power BI reports by using DAX calculations

  • Take your Power BI skills to the next level by using DAX to solve common calculation problems
  • Create time intelligence reports such as year-over-year comparisons more easily
  • Get your questions answered and see DAX in real time with Power BI expert instructor Daniil Maslyuk as your guide

Microsoft Power BI is an essential tool for many analysts, but to really get the most out of your data, you need to use DAX (Data Analysis Expressions). In some cases you can create insightful visuals in Power BI without writing DAX, but for more sophisticated analysis, you might need to enrich your model with measures, calculated columns, or calculated tables. DAX can do this and more. In this course, we’ll review the basics of DAX so that you are equipped with enough knowledge to solve the most common data analysis problems.

What you’ll learn and how you can apply it

By the end of the live online course, you’ll understand:

  • When to create a measure, calculated column, or calculated table
  • When DAX is a good fit to solve a problem, and when it isn’t
  • How DAX calculations are different from Excel and SQL

And you’ll be able to:

  • Write time intelligence calculations, such as year-on-year comparison or month-to-date aggregation
  • Follow best practices when writing DAX
  • Solve the most common calculation problems by using DAX
