Course description

Generative AI offers tremendous benefits for developing presentations at work, from saving time to developing creative ideas to designing professional slide decks.

Join expert Curtis Newbold to learn the strengths and weaknesses of each of these tools for presentations while focusing largely on the use of Copilot for Business 365 and its integrative features in MS PowerPoint. You’ll learn how to write effective AI prompts that generate strong presentation outlines and scripts that follow public speaking best practices, create a presentation from a written document, and design professional slide decks for maximum communication impact.

Prerequisites

  • Basic understanding of generative AI tools Gemini, ChatGPT, and Copilot
  • Familiarity with MS Office products, especially Word and PowerPoint
  • Basic knowledge of public speaking and presentation best practices

Recommended preparation:

  • (Optional) Microsoft Copilot for Business 365 or Copilot Pro for individuals installed
  • (Optional, to participate in exercises) Have Gemini, ChatGPT, and Copilot chatbots open in a browser and the MS PowerPoint app open before the start of the course
  • (Optional) A report or other document in MS Word (.docx file) to convert into a presentation

  • Curtis Newbold

    Curtis Newbold is a passionate educator, speaker, and award-winning corporate consultant with a love for all things communication. He has designed and delivered courses, workshops, webinars, and presentations on scores of topics such as information design, data visualization, leadership communication, brand strategy, presentation delivery, business writing, and public relations management. Curtis has led graduate student marketing and communication projects in Peru, South Africa, Cambodia, Hungary, Morocco, and Iceland and he has taught at multiple universities in the United States and China.
