So you might ask—and one reviewer did—why is an XML book talking about reengineering? Reengineering is another one of those love/hate topics for data managers and all kinds of IT professionals, similar to Enterprise Application Integration. On one hand, the possibilities for gains from reengineering as it has typically been described seem profound. On the other hand, for many organizations, none of these benefits have really panned out.
