We start off this part by drilling into what business information exchange is all about. We look into how business information exchange is practiced today, its objectives, dynamics impacting it, and how all these things work together and impact business information exchange. We begin to realize that business information is a chain, and we introduce you to the notion of a business information-supply chain, looking at the chain itself rather than the individual links in that chain. We conclude this part by pointing out that XBRL will enable a transformation in business information exchange similar to the transformations that have occurred or are occurring in other industries.
