In this chapter, I introduce you to the network feature that’s built into the WordPress software. The Multisite feature allows you, the site owner, to add and maintain multiple sites within one installation of WordPress. In this chapter, you discover how to set up the Multisite feature, explore settings and configurations, gain an understanding of the network administrator role, determine which configuration is right for you (do you want subdirectories or subdomains?), and find some great resources to help you along the way.
When the Multisite feature is enabled, users of your network can run their own sites within your installation of WordPress. They also have access to their own Dashboards with the same options and features covered in the chapters in Book 3. Heck, it probably would be a great idea to buy a copy of this book for every member of your network so that everyone can become familiar with the WordPress Dashboard and its features, too.
