2How Wireless Networks Work
In this chapter
Connecting one computer to another seems easy enough, but in reality this process utilizes some very advanced technology. The wireless part of a wireless network uses radio signals at a specific frequency, which means you essentially build a mini-radio station in your home or office. The business of transmitting data signals between PCs involves a complex set of networking protocols, so that each computer knows what’s coming and going—and in what fashion. All this technical complexity happens behind the scenes, of course, but it does have to happen.
