Labeling and Tagging Your Photos

Most photo file formats allow you to store extra data, called metadata, in the photo file. The camera often stores information such as the date the photo was taken, the camera model, the resolution, and so on. You can add other information: tags to classify the subject matter, captions to add more information about the photo, and your rating of the photo. You can then use these tags and ratings to find or sort your photos.

  1. If it isn’t already running, start Windows Photo Gallery from the Start menu. If the Info pane isn’t shown, click the Info button to display it.
