Installing WSS 3.0 for a Server Farm Deployment

Before installing WSS 3.0 on a server, you should verify that:

• The computer is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003 or Microsoft Windows Server 2008. Standard, Enterprise, Datacenter, and Web editions are all acceptable.

• The computer is running Internet Information Services (IIS) in IIS 6.0 Worker Process Isolation mode.

• The computer is running ASP.NET 1.1 or later.

• The computer is using the NTFS file system.

The client computers must be running Internet Explorer 5.01 or later or Netscape Navigator 6.2 or later to use WSS 3.0 features. Of course, the most recent release available of Internet Explorer will get the best results.
