It is a characteristic of servers to have multiple ports. That is due to the role that the servers play in computer networks. Some of the ports (see Figure 9.9) we encounter at the back of servers are: AC power connectors, gigabit ethernet ports, PCIe ports, USB ports, HD-15 video connectors, management ports, and although rarely seen nowadays, legacy ports such as serial ports, parallel ports, and PS/2 ports.
